The Chapter 12 ‘Biodiversity Modelling Experiences in Ukraine’ has been published by IGI in the book ‘Land Use, Climate Change and Biodiversity Modeling: Perspectives and Applications. See Abstract of the Ch.12 [about which we have informed our readers last year]
The total MSA map has been re-calculated, and that was based on a new gradual agriculture intensity map. The mean total MSA value is 32.4% (equal to 32.4% from previous model run http://biomodel.org.ua/?p=112)
Nature/agricultural zoning borders has corrected by usage of 100 km gradual stria instead of strict borders. It will improve the LU impact map with combined GLOBIO#3 land use classification (http://biomodel.org.ua/?p=103)
Final Mean Species Abundance map of the remaining biodiversity in Ukraine (2000): Mean MSA value – 32.4% (0,324407296).Revised methodology was applied (by GIS modular with combined LU classes application; http://biomodel.org.ua/?p=103). Final map image looks very similar to Landuse MSA. Obviously
Different GLOBIO3 land use classes combination was applied taking into account location of agrolandscapes in different ‘nature-ag-zone’. For instance agrolandscapes within ‘Polissya’ nature-ag-zone include several LCC i.e. ‘extensive agriculture’ and ‘agro-forestry’ in equal part approximately. Logically, for the ‘Steppe zone’

Ukrainian version of the RS-GIS-index page already available. Please see detailed: http://biomodel.org.ua/?page_id
The map shows distribution of chestnut (Castanea sativa) – one of the rare and relic forest species in the Caucasus region
