This spring BioModel participates in a small international project on development of the new book ‘Land Use, Climate Change and Biodiversity Modelling: Perspectives and Applications’ (2010). It is an outcome of the Dakar’s Modelling Workshop (December, 2009). The Forestry Faculty of Kasetsart University (Bangkok, Thailand) leads this process. Last week BioModel has finished its chapter ‘Modelling [...]

Mean species abundance chart by Oblasts of Ukraine Highest MSA value – 61,95% in Zakarpatska obl. Lowest – 22,85% in Donetska obl.
Final Mean Species Abundance map of the remaining biodiversity in Ukraine (2000): Mean MSA value – 32.4% (0,324407296).Revised methodology was applied (by GIS modular with combined LU classes application; http://biomodel.org.ua/?p=103). Final map image looks very similar to Landuse MSA. Obviously landuse is the dominant pressure causing the biodiversity loss process.
LU MSA map (new version) During the ‘GIS modular’ manual compilation new LU MSA (biodiversity loss from land use; picture above) was calculated. More details available because of a new approach: http://biomodel.org.ua/?p=103 . You can compare the new LU MSA with LU MSA from previous run (picture below).
