This spring BioModel participates in a small international project on development of the new book ‘Land Use, Climate Change and Biodiversity Modelling: Perspectives and Applications’ (2010). It is an outcome of the Dakar’s Modelling Workshop (December, 2009). The Forestry Faculty of Kasetsart University (Bangkok, Thailand) leads this process. Last week BioModel has finished its chapter ‘Modelling [...]

BioModel finished modelling of predicted natural habitat changes for all 7 regional birch species (Betula sp. – B.pendula, B.microlepis, B.pubescens, B.humilis*, B.klokovii*, B.obscura*, B. borysthenica*), 4 species of which (*) are in the Red Data Book of Ukraine (1996). More details – http://biomodel.org.ua/?page_id=357
BioModel team produced GLM scenario for Betula humilis till 2050. Details and maps TBD.

BioModel reconstructed changes of natural habitats of Northern Jackal (C.aureus) in the GLOBIO Ukraine Region, which is rare species here. GLM scenario showed that the species habitats migration to the North-West would not take place (contrary to some opinions). Detailed story – http://biomodel.org.ua/?page_id=327
Yellow Water-lily (Nuphae lutea) habitats were reconstructed with historical, archived publications and with GIS- and RS data. Main causes of change include ‘land use’ and ‘climate’. More details – http://biomodel.org.ua/?page_id=310.
